Reflection

As the semester comes to a close, I think putting together a portfolio is a great idea. It allows each student to reflect on what they have accomplished and what they still need to work on. I like to see how my writing skills have improved while also seeing other areas I have worked on. I think i accomplished a lot during this course and my viewpoint on the course did change has it went on. I now understand that in order to improve, one must start with the basics and work their way up all over again. I plan on using the skills that I have learned in this class and carry them with me in other english classes required for my Major.

Bib

Well after doing the bib i feel like I am in a good position concerning the next project. My thesis statement poses a question and both sides of the argument on the two different answers that one could find. I believe i have good enough research in order to portray my idea and it should come together smoothly.

Drugs

We are now working on an Annotated Bib.   I am deciding on switching articles because I have more ideas on Drugs and Drug use in sports than any other topic of the "Pursuit of Happiness" article. I play on introducing drugs and then break it down into drugs in sports. Find an article containing each sport i can think of and then tie in drug laws and common usage. Also talk about over the counter drugs and overdoses/celeberites. Ending with maybe a contrast the pros and cons of drugs and then a conclusion.

3RD

Well we just finished our critque Essay which was pretty easy. I feel it was basically writing a summary then giving our input on it. I chose the Pursuit of happiness article because my favorite movie is pursuit of happiness. I also thought it to be more interesting than the Bonds article. Overall i believe i did a good job in my writing and thought it was fairly easy.

I dont know if we are suppose to blog again over the weekend or not but here goes nothing. I didn't read or got the book yet but i plan on getting it monday and reading the article monday night. I enjoyed reading bout the Simpsons and after that decided to watch a few episodes and I picked up on the same changes that they mentioned within the reading. Im not sure how long this has to be but for now i have nothing else to write about so. Till we meet again faithful blogger

D'oh

So i survived the first week of classes and i thought that this class would be harder. Since I took and passed Ap english, I'm slightly disappointed that all we have done is basically plot summary of what is going on within the article. I came into this class thinking id be writing analysis and trying to find connections between the lines. So far, yea i enjoy reading about the Simpsons, but i keep finding myself having to stop myself from thinking more into the text. I hope it changes because I had more enjoyment out of looking for the hidden complexity within the text and i find myself just scratching the surface and re-wording what is already in front of me. This has made me feel over qualified for this class because i feel that by over looking things as something else and by them not bluntly being in the text it might be wrong. Well, its only the 2nd week and things hopefully will become harder because simple summaries seem to put my year of AP english to very poor use.
